Ingredients
- 2 liters of beef broth
- 400g beef brisket, cut into thin slices
- 200g beef shank, cut into thin slices
- 200g rice noodles
- 1/2 cup sliced onions
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh herbs (cilantro, basil, and mint)
- Lime wedges
- Chopped peanuts
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
Prepare the Beef Broth: In a large pot, combine the beef broth, beef brisket, and beef shank. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour. Skim off any foam or impurities that rise to the surface.
Cook the Noodles: While the broth is simmering, cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Toppings: In a bowl, mix together the sliced onions, sesame oil, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
Assemble the Soup: Divide the cooked noodles into individual bowls. Ladle the hot broth over the noodles. Add the beef slices and allow them to cook for a few minutes until they are tender.
