Every English sentence follows a Subject + Predicate pattern. For example:
- The cat (Subject) sleeps (Predicate).
- She (Subject) runs (Predicate) quickly (Adverb).
Common Grammar Rules
Subject-Verb Agreement
- Singular subjects take singular verbs: He runs.
- Plural subjects take plural verbs: They run.
Tenses
- Present simple: I eat.
- Past simple: I ate.
- Future simple: I will eat.
Articles
- a/an for indefinite: a book, an apple.
- the for definite: the cat.
- Punctuation
- Periods: She is happy.
- Commas: I went to the store, and bought milk.
